Topics examined in the book include: the Recruitment and Marketing of Slaves in Ijebu in the Pre-Colonial period, Literary activities of the Ijebu in the late 19th & early 20thC, Plantation agriculture in Ijebuland, Women Reaction to Colonial Foodstuff Policy, Significance of Bilikisu Sungbo in Ijebu Culture history, Impact of colonial rule on Remo/Ijebu relations and Vigilante System of checking Crimes in Ijebu society. It also has biographies of two important personalities in the Ijebu community.
